A plan is underway to build a multi-storey 1,300 space car park for Northampton's railway station "in the not-too-distant future".

"The current single-storey car park is ancient and not fit for purpose, simply because there is far greater demand for spaces.
"Our major consideration is to bring this about with as little disruption as possible and will be developed alongside the existing parking rather than disrupting it.
"It should be coming out of the ground in the not-too-distant future."

Meanwhile, the conference also revealed plans for the newly-titled "Four Waterside" development in a space off St Peter's Way, less than a minute's walk away from the station.
It includes plans for a 125-bed hotel and 60,000 square foot of grade-A office space.
Interim head of paid service George Candler said: "As far as grade-A office space goes there really isn't anything like this in Northampton.
