Meet the father passionate about preserving the history of hot air ballooning in honour of his daughter
Meet the father who is passionate about preserving the history of hot air ballooning, and set up this venture in honour of his daughter.
Jamie Edwards is the director of Molly Mae Ballooning and as well as trying to showcase nostalgic and much-loved balloons to the public, he hopes to make it more accessible across the county.
Ballooning has been a hobby of Jamie’s since 2008 and it was not until this year when he decided to establish Molly Mae Ballooning as a business, which he described as a “natural progression”.
Molly Mae Ballooning is an aerial marketing agency offering advertising on the side of hot air balloons, and Jamie says this passion started as a child when he visited the Balloon Festival. It was his nan who helped him turn his fascination into a hobby.

Jamie recently launched his first project Rose of the Shires, which provides Northampton businesses with low cost entry into the world of balloon marketing and what it has to offer.
With two companies already signed up and a lot of traction gained on social media, Jamie hopes businesses can see the potential customer base they stand to gain by collaborating with Molly Mae Ballooning.
“Business aside, I want to get people involved in ballooning,” said Jamie. “I’ve managed to get a lot of different people from all walks of life into ballooning. It helps you make new friends, communicate and get away from phones by doing something adventurous.”
Jamie is optimistic about the future of Molly Mae Ballooning, which is named in honour of his premature daughter who passed away in 2008. As he envisions this is something they would have done together, he is proud to have raised money for charities under her name through ballooning.

Jamie never thought he would have children again and is now expecting another daughter, which has motivated him to create a legacy for his family with Molly Mae Ballooning.
