Major Northampton town centre landmark remains available one year on as agents seek occupiers for huge retail property
A prominent Northampton town centre retail building formerly occupied by a major high street chain is still being actively marketed to prospective tenants.
Commercial agents are seeking occupiers for 64-72 Abington Street, a four-storey property offering more than 30,000 square feet of space in one of the town centre's busiest shopping locations.
H&M vacated the building a year ago, moving into a new site in the Grosvenor Centre.
The building occupies a prominent position in Abington Street, close to a number of well-known retailers including Sports Direct, Poundland, Specsavers and Clarks.

According to marketing particulars produced by London-based agents Ian Scott International, the property features an art deco-style frontage and includes retail trading space across the ground and first floors, along with escalators, a goods lift, plant room facilities and rear loading access.
The marketing brochure describes the site as being located within Northampton's prime retail area at a time when the town centre is undergoing regeneration work aimed at improving public spaces, infrastructure and cultural assets.
Agents say a new lease is available and that both permanent and temporary occupiers will be considered. The particulars state that all permitted uses will be taken into account, potentially opening the door to a range of retail, leisure or alternative commercial operators.
The asking rent has not been publicly disclosed and is available upon application. The property currently has a rateable value of £179,000.
Interested parties can arrange viewings through the retained agent, with the property being promoted as one of the largest available retail opportunities in Northampton town centre.
