This comes just weeks after a planning application was submitted by Lidl to demolish a two-storey office block and associated warehouses in Kettering Road.On the supermarket’s public consultation website for the industrial estate site, a statement reads: “Lidl is preparing to submit a planning application to Northampton Borough Council for the construction of a Lidl foodstore at the junction of Lodge Way and Harlestone Road in Northampton.

“The foodstore will be in a convenient location for residents of neighbourhoods in the north and west of Northampton.

“The foodstore will be built to Lidl’s latest specification which promotes a modern building incorporating high quality materials and energy efficient building management systems.

“Lidl expects to receive a decision on the application during the early part of 2021.”

Lidl GB’s Regional Head of Property, Rachel Hargreaves, added: “We are excited about the prospect of opening a new Lidl in Northampton and serving our fresh, quality and incredibly good value produce to even more of the local community.

"Our plans are set to create around 40 new positions which would be fantastic for the local economy, and we hope that as many people as possible are able to join us for this 'virtual' public consultation.

If approved, the store, which will be accessed via Lodge Way by vehicles, will have an gross internal area of 2,177 square metres and will include customer toilets and an in-store bakery.

As well as 129 parking spaces, electric vehicle charging bays and five covered cycle stands will also be included in the car park.
