A boxing gym in Northampton has received a cash boost to upgrade its training facilities, thanks to Persimmon Homes. Team Shoe-Box received a £1,000 donation from the developer as part of its Community Champions initiative. The funds will be used to secure larger premises for the gym after seeing their membership soar in the past year.

The group is passionate about the benefits of boxing – taking the sport into a number of local secondary schools, running holiday camps for children and delivering year-long outreach project, in partnership with Maverick Stars Trust.

Shelly Conway at Team Shoe-Box, said: “We’re absolutely delighted by this kind donation from Persimmon Homes. Our goal has always been to promote the benefits of boxing within the community – and as we continue on our journey, we’re needing to upsize our premises.

“The money that Persimmon has kindly gifted us has gone towards the £20,000 we required in order to give us the space we need to accommodate our growing membership. We’re delighted to have hit our target and can’t wait to move into the new Team Shoe-Box HQ.”

Claire Dearsley, Sales Director at Persimmon Homes Midlands, said: “What we do is about much more than just building homes, it’s about leaving a lasting positive legacy in the communities that we build in. We’re always delighted to lend a hand to sports groups to boost their ongoing initiatives or contribute to causes that mean a lot to them.”

“It’s great to see Team Shoe-Box put the donation to good use and we look forward to hearing how the group enjoy their new premises!”
