Have a look around revamped Northampton burger joint in collaboration with US craft brewery

A burger restaurant in Northampton town centre opens today (Friday, February 14) after undergoing a complete overhaul to join forces with an American craft brewery.

Brooklyn Social has taken over the old Department of Meat and Social Affairs restaurant on Bridge Street.

The restaurant and bar has a new focus on craft beer thanks to the deal with Carlsberg, which distributes Brooklyn Brewery's beer in Europe.

General manager Tino Pezzillo said: "It's a modern-day burger and beer bar offering the ultimate comfort foods paired with a great unique selection of craft beer, served with a smile in a sociable and comfortable setting."

The deal with Carlsberg, a stone's throw from Brooklyn Social, means the bar will be stocked with exclusive beers unavailable anywhere else in the UK.

Pippa Walsh, from Carlsberg UK, said: “Northampton has a special place in our hearts. It’s where Carlsberg UK is from and we want our local community to be able to enjoy our range of great-tasting products.

"That’s why we’re very happy to have Brooklyn Social welcoming a range of our Brooklyn beers and be the first to give locals a taste of these quality brews.”

Alongside the usual American favourites like burgers and ribs, what Tino described as 'proper Neapolitan pizzas' will soon be served from March.

The first floor has also been given a makeover, allowing over 300 people for private hire events as well as space for live bands and performances.

An invite-only launch was held last night (Thursday) ahead of the public opening at 12pm today.
