"We know the vital role pubs play in communities and feel it’s important to open as many as we can to help people get back together once again."

Greene King will be opening a total of 442 pubs outdoors in England from mid-April as part of stage two under the government's roadmap to lifting restrictions. Pubs will be serving customers outdoors only, customers will not need to order a substantial meal with alcohol and there will be no curfew. However, customers must order, eat and drink whilst seated.

Customers can book a garden table online from Friday, March 26, although people will also be able to visit the pub outdoors without an advance booking.

Marking this important first step towards 21 June when all restrictions are lifted, Greene King chief executive, Nick Mackenzie, said: “It’s great that we can finally open outdoor areas in some of our pubs after such a long period of lockdown and we can’t wait to start welcoming our customers back safely.

“Sadly, we can only open around a third of our estate in April where we have outdoor space that will work and have a chance of being viable, but we know the vital role pubs play in communities and feel it’s important to open as many as we can to help people get back together once again."

The pubs reopening in Northamptonshire will be:

- Abington (Northampton)

- Britannia (Northampton)

- Greyhound (Milton Malsor)

- Overstone Manor (Sywell)

- Quays (Little Billing)

- Queen Eleanor (Wootton)

- Spinney Hill (Northampton)

- Trumpet (Weston Favell)

- Warren (Kettering)

- White Elephant (Northampton)

- Whitehills (Northampton)

- Yeoman of England (Wootton)

Some pubs will have reduced opening hours and menus and this information - along with how to book - will be updated on individual pubs' websites over the coming days.

Greene King Pub Partners tenants, who make up a further 875 pubs across England, will also be deciding on an individual basis whether to reopen their outdoor areas from April 12 and are not included in the 442 managed pubs total.

Mr Mackenzie added: “We look forward to May when we can open many more of our pubs, and the all-important return to normality in June when the restrictions are fully removed, and we can start to rebuild our businesses. Until then, we all have our fingers crossed for sunshine and warm temperatures in April!”
