Former barber took the leap to follow dream and open new beauty treatment space in Northampton

A former barber has taken the leap to follow her dream and open a new beauty treatment space in Northampton.

25-year-old Lauren Moore worked at Dapper Chaps on Derngate for seven years before setting up Lemaura Beauty at the start of the year, located inside Pin Up Hair & Co. on Birchfield Road East.

Lauren now offers professional services including facials, nails and massage, all delivered in a calm and welcoming environment.

The space has a strong focus on client comfort, building confidence and embodying self-care, and Lauren is proud to make a positive contribution to the community.

When asked why now was the right time to leave her former role and set something up for herself, Lauren told the Chronicle & Echo: “I’d been there for a long time and fancied a change.

“I originally studied beauty at college when I left school at 17 and it’s always something I wanted to do. I was working full-time as a self-employed barber before opening Lemaura Beauty on January 6.”

Taking the leap had been on Lauren’s mind for around a year and she completed courses in BIAB nails, dermaplaning, microneedling and lymphatic drainage massage starting from October 2025.

As a client of Pin Up Hair & Co. for the past seven years, Lauren knew this was the perfect spot for her new venture – especially due to the warm and welcoming atmosphere they have created.

She has received most praise for the cosy treatment room and the variety of relaxing services on offer.

“My service is personal,” said Lauren. “We talk about what you want and how you’re feeling. I’m kind to people and a friendly face. I make everybody feel seen, welcome and comfortable.”

Lauren admitted that going after her dream has been scary and stressful at times, but she has made it through with a good support system around her – and encourages others to do the same if they are in a position to.

Lauren hopes to continue adding more treatments and expanding Lemaura Beauty, with the long-term goal of having her own premises and giving others a space to offer their services.
