First homes moving forward at Piddington self-build project

The first custom-designed homes are now moving forward at the Salcey View self-build project in Piddington, as buyers begin submitting plans for their own individually designed houses.

The small edge-of-village development off Forest Road is being created as a fully serviced self-build scheme, giving local people the opportunity to design and build their own homes as an alternative to buying a standard new-build property.

With roads, drainage and utility connections now installed across the site, the project is entering its next phase, with the first plot purchasers now working with architects to prepare detailed designs for approval by the council.

Northampton-based contractor Ashmac Construction has carried out the site works throughout the winter and remains on programme to complete the main site infrastructure in April, despite challenging weather conditions earlier in the year.

Nik Kyriacou of selling agents Sheldon Bosley Knight said the scheme had attracted strong interest from people keen to create a home tailored to their own needs.

“We’ve had a really positive response to the project, and it’s exciting to see the first buyers now putting forward their own house designs. Self-build gives people the chance to create something completely personal, which is why opportunities like this are always in demand,” he said.

With a selection of plots still available, a number of open days will be held during April, giving prospective buyers the chance to visit the site, speak to architects and builders involved in the project, and find out what is involved in building their own home.

More information can be found at selfbuildplots.co.uk or through the site’s sales partner, Sheldon Bosley Knight, on 01789 387887 to arrange a site visit or discuss availability.
