A Victorian manor house hotel in Northamptonshire is preparing to reopen just over 12 months after a devastating fire.

Plum Park Hotel in Paulersbury, near Towcester, had some structural as well as fire, smoke and water damage following the blaze a year ago tomorrow (Wednesday, December 23).

Since then, the Watling Street hotel has been closed for renovations as well as the creation of a new garden room with glass roof lantern for weddings.

The hotel had planned to reopen in September but that has been pushed back to January 4 with wedding viewings resuming straight away.

"Thank you for your incredible support and patience with us over the last 12 months. The wait is almost over. Our renovations are almost complete," the hotel posted on Facebook on December 6.

"We received the keys back from our builders on Friday and now have a few weeks of snagging, refurnishing and testing ahead of us but we plan to re-open on Monday, January 4, 2021 and will be resuming wedding viewings from then.

"We can't wait to welcome you to Plum Park and will be sharing some photos over Christmas and New Year."
