A new farm shop that will sell local produce is set to open in Northamptonshire next week.

The shop will be run by the Elliott family who have been farmers and butchers in the county for more than 100 years.

Located at a recently purchased farm on the A5 between Weedon and Kilsby, opposite the Heart of the Shires shopping village, the farm shop will sell home reared meat, local produce, eggs, cheese, vegetables and store cupboard sundries.

Old farm buildings, including the milking dairy, have been renovated to house chillers, meat counters, a preparation space and display units.

The Elliott’s also own a traditional butcher’s shop in Kinslingbury, which has been busy during the pandemic.

Roger Elliott said: “We would like to thank everyone who has loyally supported our family business over many years.

“Noborough Lodge Farm Shop provides our family with a wealth of new opportunities to showcase local produce and expand to provide an enhanced customer experience.

“We plan to run the new shop alongside our current shop in Kislingbury due to the support and custom received during the coronavirus pandemic.”

The new farm shop has parking on-site, is accessible for pushchairs and wheelchair, and once the Covid-19 restrictions are lifted, customers will be able to meet some of the farm animals in an enclosed yard area.

Tom Elliott added: “Our business is unique.

“We breed, rear and finish all of our native grass-fed cattle and sheep which are then sold through our shop.

“We keep traditional native breeds including a pedigree herd of South Devons, established in 1988.

“We can honestly say that our shop sells homegrown produce with low food miles and has been lovingly reared from start to finish.”

The family also hopes to open a café later this summer to make the establishment more of a destination to visit and sample some of the produce on offer.

Following government guidelines, the shop will open at 8am next Thursday (June 18).
