Family-run business celebrates first year open in Northampton and expands with second county location
A family-run business is celebrating its first year open and has expanded with another location further afield in the county, in what is hoped to be the second of many branches.
Shaan, located at 187 Kettering Road, is an Indian and Bangladeshi restaurant which the team says has become a firm favourite for locals since opening in July 2025.
They recently launched their second location, Shaan Kitchen in Bozeat, and marketing manager Shafia Khatun spoke to the Chronicle & Echo about the business’ successful journey so far.
It is Shafia’s husband Fahad Ahmed who runs the venture alongside his brothers Foysal Ahmed, the head chef, and Forhad Ahmed.

The trio wanted to open a family-run business together, having previously run ventures in Irchester. Also under the name of Shaan, the last restaurant and takeaway they had was open for two years and closed in 2018.
With more than a decade-and-a-half of experience in the restaurant trade for all three brothers, they wanted to bring their expertise to Northampton town centre following the pandemic – and that is how Shaan on Kettering Road was born.
When asked what people can expect if they pay a visit to the restaurant and takeaway, Shafia said: “It’s delicious, authentic Indian and Bangladeshi food with a twist.
“People say how much the building has changed after the refurbishment, it’s like day and night with how it used to be. Customers can sit in and eat or takeaway, and it’s bring your own booze to make it affordable for the community.”

The team are “really proud” to celebrate their first year in Northampton, and it is going from “strength to strength” with the support of the community.
“The food is definitely the main thing,” said Shafia, when asked what customers have praised the most and what keeps them coming back for more.
“When they try it once, they become a regular and forget about other restaurants. There’s a welcoming atmosphere and we’re affordable.”
Shafia believes it is the authenticity of the food that sets Shaan apart from other venues – as well as the fact they try to accommodate requests that are not on the menu, and have a variety of vegan and vegetarian options.
The team members pride themselves on how well-presented and well-seasoned the food is, and that they are unafraid to make changes as a result of feedback received.
The business was welcomed to Bozeat village with open arms when it opened on June 1, and the hope is to continue establishing further branches to serve even more people moving forward.
As a thank you for reading this story, Shaan is offering 30 percent off any takeaway or sit-down meal on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (July 15, 16 and 17) using code CHRON30.
