Family-run business celebrates 25 years of putting quality customer service at heart of everything in Northampton

A family-run business is celebrating 25 years of putting quality customer service at the heart of everything the team does in Northampton.

The Framing Centre, which opened back in July 2001, is a specialist in framing and stocks original artwork, cards, balloons and gifts for all occasions.

The venture was founded by husband and wife duo Kamal and Pallavi Ravaliya, as they wanted to set something up for themselves in the framing industry – while tapping into a niche market that they believed was lacking in the town.

They continue to pride themselves on the bespoke, personal and one-to-one service two-and-a-half decades later, which is why many customers have remained loyal rather than switching to online purchases.

Despite having to close half of their galleries over the years due to the recession and the pandemic, co-founder Kamal’s proudest achievement is to have three stores still going strong in Northampton, Milton Keynes and Horsham.

Kamal and long-standing employee of nine years Donna Brown, who runs the card side of the business, spoke to the Chronicle & Echo about the impressive milestone.

“It’s really great,” said Kamal. “It’s been a tough journey but we have a great team of staff who have helped us be where we are today. Loyal customers kept us going in the tough times.”

The Framing Centre offers the full package, including bespoke framing, off the shelf frames with mounts which can be purchased, a large selection of original and limited edition artwork, cards and gifts.

“Customer service is our number one area,” said Kamal, when asked what factors he believes have been key in The Framing Centre’s long-standing success. “The product talks for itself and running as a family business, we treat all staff as part of the family.”

Donna added: “Kamal always goes above and beyond for customers, and goes out of his way delivering things in the middle of nowhere. He never says no to a customer and if he can do something, he will.”

Kamal stressed the importance of utilising independent businesses as opposed to ordering online in a bid to save a few pounds, and Donna concluded with the poignant message: “Use us or lose us.”

The team wants to thank everyone who has supported The Framing Centre over the past 25 years.
