Council investigating new 24/7 vape shop's neon signage at Grade II listed building in Northampton
A new 24/7 vape shop in a Grade II listed building in Northampton town centre is being investigated its loud neon signage.
The new ‘Your Store’ convenience shop recently opened at 24 Bridge Street. However, not everyone is happy with how the Grade II listed building has been converted.
A nearby business said: “I have no issues with vacant units opening up but I do have issues with a historic Grade II listed building looking like this without planning consents for signage. The council don’t seem interested.”
The shop has been covered in bright multi-coloured neon-looking signage which advertises the store as an open all hours vape and convenience shop.
Chronicle and Echo approached West Northants Council (WNC) with the business’ concerns.
A WNC spokeswoman replied, saying: “We are aware of the issue and has an active planning enforcement case. We can’t share details while the case is ongoing, but it will stay open until the problem is resolved. If the person who reported it wants to follow up directly, they can contact the planning enforcement team by filling out this online form: Https://forms.westnorthants.gov.uk/xfp/form/629”
