Ciara Davey has transformed an old horse stable into a cosy countryside café at Quinton Green Farm – just minutes from Salcey Forest.

The dog-friendly café serves a range of barista-style coffees, teas and milkshakes, alongside all-day breakfasts, sourdough toasties, loaded jacket potatoes and açaí bowls. Popular options include a full “Davey’s Breakfast”, avocado on sourdough, French toast, and sweet bowls topped with fruit, granola and spreads such as Nutella and Biscoff.

Speaking to the Chronicle & Echo, the 18-year-old said: “I want to offer Northamptonshire something I felt was missing – a high-quality, affordable café experience set in a beautiful countryside location.

“We’re in Quinton on an estate and there’s quite a few little businesses around us. When you come down the road there’s really nice views and loads of lovely walks, and Salcey Forest is only about two minutes away which is really nice.

"We’ve also designed the indoor space with plenty of comfortable seating, including big cosy sofas, so customers feel at home. We’ve got an exciting garden space soon to be unveiled too.”

The teenager says she, her mum, and other family members spent eight months renovating the building, which had stood empty for years, before opening in February.

Ciara said: “It’s an old stable where horses used to live. We’ve just done it up and had to lay all new walls, floors and put in a big window – literally from scratch because there was no proper space for people to come in before. It took about eight months and it was a lot. I couldn’t have done this without my mum her support made this dream possible. It was exhausting but worth it.”

The young entrepreneur said the idea for the café began as a spur-of-the-moment conversation with her mum. She said: “Me and my mum are quite passionate people and our heads are a bit unique. I’m dyslexic and I have ADHD so my mind’s always thinking and coming up with ideas. It was just a crazy idea at first. I didn’t really think we’d actually do it. But my mum really pushed me and was like ‘Do it’ and helped me make it happen.”

Speaking about starting a business at a young age, Ciara added: “I never really got along with school. The school system just wasn’t for me. I finished secondary school and got my GCSEs but I struggled. I tried college for three days studying business and just knew it wasn’t how I wanted to learn, so I left and decided to do something practical instead.”

Now she runs the café full-time with a small team, and says it is already attracting regular customers. She said: “It’s amazing seeing it become such a community space. We’ve only been open a few weeks but we already have regulars.”

The café’s events offering will include parties, functions and baby showers. The café’s opening hours are: Monday 7.30am–3pm; Tuesday closed; Wednesday–Friday 7.30am–3pm; Saturday 8am–4pm; Sunday 8am–3pm.
