An open-air cinema could be coming to a popular Northampton park.

A licensing application printed in this week's copy of the Chronicle and Echo newspaper says that applicant Elias Cole is looking to set up an outdoor cinema at The Racecourse, in Kettering Road.

WNC has been contacted for comment about the application.

The open-air cinemas have become popular across the country after the pandemic has forced indoor cinemas to close since March 2020. According to the government's roadmap out of lockdown, regular cinemas are expected to open on Monday, May 17.

It was also confirmed this week (Monday, April 19) that a different open-air cinema at Delapre Abbey would be returning next month (May)

Northampton Filmhouse and Delapre Abbey announced that their open-air cinema will be running from Saturday, May 22, to Sunday, June 6, and will feature a bumper season of films to be enjoyed on a large screen on the South Lawn, set against the beautiful and historic backdrop of the abbey building.
