An independent shop in Northampton town centre has thanked customers for their continued support through the pandemic.

Steve Ward, from St Giles Cheese in St Giles Street, says he is proud that his store has remained open throughout and says they will continue to offer deliveries in the new year now the county has moved into tier four restrictions.

The deliveries will start from January 8.

"We are expecting a quiet street so we'll be offering deliveries once we're back from a short break," Steve told the Chron.

"We'll get stocked up for the weekend of the 8th of January and take it week by week , as we have since March.

"I cant convey enough how fortunate weve been in being open since March. Our customers have been a credit to the town .

"The patience shown in the queue outside on the run up over the last couple of weeks has been absolutely amazing.

"We'd like to thank everyone for respecting the current rules. It could've easily gone the other way. If either of us had caught the virus it would have made life extremely difficult," Steve added.
