Have you ever wanted to do something special for a family member who dedicates their free time to fundraising activities? Or, give special recognition to your friend who is working tirelessly to set up an all-new community group?

The Grosvenor Shopping Centre ‘Local Legend’ competition is offering shoppers an opportunity to nominate someone in the town who has gone above-and-beyond for others during the pandemic.

The competition is offering a £150 gift card to one lucky winner to spend at a Grosvenor store of their choice.

James Roberts, centre manager at Grosvenor Shopping Northampton, hopes the competition will be a reminder of the town’s strong community spirit.

He said: “We have launched our ‘local legend’ campaign in a bid to say thank you to the many unsung heroes among us and to reinforce the message that Northampton is full of exceptional individuals.

“We are in the midst of unsettling times and wanted to create something positive that everyone could be a part of.

"We are looking forward to learning of stories about wonderful, local people enhancing the lives of others."

The shopping centre is inviting people to submit their nominations through its website from Tuesday, 1 September until Sunday, 13 September.

James added: “I’m sure we all have someone who is a hero in our eyes and there’s no time like the present than to put them forward to be celebrated.”

The centre management team will select a shortlist before opening the public vote on its Facebook page shortly after the closing date.
