A new Co-op food store has opened in a Northampton village.

The shop opened its doors in Dragonfly Way, Pineham Village, on Thursday (May 20) and has created 15 jobs for the area.

Store manager Ben Lewis said he can't wait to meet the local community.

The store opened on Thursday (May 20).

The manager said: “We’re really looking forward to welcoming members and customers and I’m sure they’ll be impressed with the wide range of products and services we have on offer.”

The store will offer essential grocery items, from fruit and vegetables and fresh meat to a range of chilled beers, wines and spirits.

It will also be home to an in-store bakery, hot food counter, Costa Express coffee machine, Paypoint and National Lottery terminals.

The store's opening hours will be from 7am to 10pm everyday throughout the week.

It is the 13th Co-op shop in Northampton.

The new store means there are now 13 Co-ops across Northampton.

A Co-op spokesman added: "Your Co-op is part of The Midcounties Co-operative which is one of the largest independent UK co-operatives and is fully owned by its members.

"Customers at the new store will have the option of becoming a member of the Society, giving them access to exclusive member-only deals as well as special offers from across the Your Co-op group of businesses.

"Members also have a say in how the Society is run, including the work it does to support local communities in partnership with local volunteers and community groups."

A Swipe and Win competition will run for two weeks from the opening date, giving customers who are also Midcounties Co-operative members the chance to win their shopping for free.
