A multi-award winning car and van leasing firm has thrown its weight behind a charity, which provides vital specialist palliative care services for south Northamptonshire, for the fourth year in a row.

Silverstone Fleet Management, based in Northampton, has once again named Cynthia Spencer Hospice as its chosen Charity of the Year.

Over the years, it has raised more than £4,000 for the hospice through family fun days, sponsored marathons, the Cycle4Cynthia fundraiser and its #SilverstoneSoccer football tournament for businesses.

One of its biggest successes was the #SingForCynthia campaign which encouraged people to sing a song to camera and then nominate two other people to take on the challenge. When participants uploaded their performance to LinkedIn they donated money to a JustGiving page and encouraged others to donate. The campaign went viral, having captured the hearts of the business community, and raised £1,400.

In 2021, the firm aims to raise £2,000 with sales manager Ryan Bishop hoping to take part in the London Marathon virtually and through an even bigger #SilverstoneSoccer tournament.

Silverstone Fleet Management managing director Scott Norville said: “Cynthia Spencer Hospice relies on charitable giving and corporate support from the community and local businesses.

“This year it needs to raise nearly £1.5m – that’s over £4,000, a day – to continue to provide and improve the services it offers. It plays such an important role in the lives of families in Northamptonshire and we’re proud to support it and give back to the community.

“We have high hopes for our fundraising this year. We’ve already put out an appeal on LinkedIn for businesses to register their interest for #SilverstoneSoccer and with the uptake we’ve had so far we could triple the size of last year’s tournament.”

Cynthia Spencer Hospice corporate partnerships fundraiser, Nina Gandy, added: “Silverstone Fleet Management has supported Cynthia Spencer for a number of years. The team are always finding new and innovative ways to raise money. It has also previously taken part in our annual golf day and Cycle4Cynthia to name just a few events.

“Their support enables our patients and their families to continue to be supported as these strange times continue. Like the Hospice, our corporate supporters have faced challenging times throughout the last year but, as a Northamptonshire business community everyone is there for each other and the Hospice is never far from supporters’ minds. This year marks 45 years of the hospice and everyone continues to work hard to reach the £1,493,000 fundraising target.”
