Brand new self storage business now open in Northampton after industry sees ‘all time high’ in recent years
A brand new self storage business is now open in Northampton, following an “all time high” for the industry in recent years according to the passionate team.
Store Secure 365 opened its site in Caswell Road at Brackmills Industrial Estate in April, as rising housing costs are changing the way people use space and this is driving demand for self storage.
The new location is the only facility of its kind to serve the nearby communities in Wootton, Hardingstone and Abington, which is easily accessible from the town centre and beyond.
With house moves becoming less affordable for many families, the team has seen more people choose to stay put and use storage to free up space as households grow. Self storage is increasingly becoming part of everyday life, rather than a short-term solution.

Store Secure 365 was founded by friends Anthony Pearlgood and Russell Harris, who previously worked together for a decade and joined forces over the past two years to get this first location open.
Dave Brailsford is the business’ operations manager and he spoke to the Chronicle & Echo about one of the latest additions to the town.
“There is a growing demand for self storage in general and this consensus has increased over the years,” said Dave. “Three-quarters of users are now domestic. It used to be a luxury and for businesses.
“Brackmills is a prime location as there is a massive increase in housing in the area but no storage facility. There was a demand in the area and it was the right time.”

Store Secure 365 offers outdoor container self storage, which is cheaper per square foot than indoor alternatives. Access is available 24 hours a day and starting at £35 per week for 160 square foot, Dave is pleased at how affordable an option it is for the Northampton community.
“It’s been a good start and it’s picking up well,” said Dave, who explained it is being used for a range of domestic, business and household storage needs already. Utilising Store Secure 365 for stock has given small business owners their homes back.
Dave believes the “sustained pressure on the UK home market” is responsible for the recent statistic that 76 percent of storage solutions are now held for domestic purposes by homeowners.
The operations manager mentioned that growing families can free up their spare room for as little as £35 per week, instead of moving house and increasing their outgoings. That homeowner could then rent the room to make a profit after paying for the storage space if they wanted to.

“It’s very affordable per square foot for people in business,” said Dave. “We have an online seller who rents a space off us with double-sided racking and he had the full set up straight away. We don’t just offer a standard container, there’s the option to have racking included.
“There’s a strong demand from small local businesses and many turn to container storage as a cost-effective alternative to renting traditional commercial units. It offers a flexible and affordable way to operate without the overheads of long-term leases.”
The Northampton site is hoped to be the first of many and the team is already looking at a space in Kettering to begin the local expansion.
