Brand new grill house restaurant and takeaway plans revealed for former Barclay's bank site in Northampton
Plans have been unveiled to open a brand new grill house restaurant and takeaway along a busy road in Northampton.
The former Barclays Bank in Weedon Road, opposite Franklin’s Gardens, could reopen soon as a brand new restaurant and takeaway if plans are approved.
Plans to convert the former bank branch into a restaurant were submitted in 2022 and received approval at the end of that year. Over recent months, it appears the site has been undergoing renovations to prepare for its new identity.
The latest planning application seeks approval for signage for the new establishment, which has revealed what the restaurant and takeaway will be called.

According to the plans, the restaurant will be named Shak’s Grill House, with an adjoining takeaway called Burger Boys.
Rough opening times for the new establishments are based on council regulations, which state that the ground floor units shall only be open to the public from 11am to 10pm. There will also be car parking available at the rear of the premises.
The local authority has set a target decision date of November 26 for the planning application. If approved, Shak’s and Burger Boys will join a host of restaurants and takeaways along Weedon Road. Shaks has been contacted for comment.
