West End star originally from Northampton returns home to deliver workshop to performance school

Students, who are mainly disabled adults, will benefit from the star’s expertise

A West End star is visiting Northampton this week to deliver workshops to an inclusive performing arts school.

Jarneia Richard who stars as Catherine of Aragon in Six The Musical, is originally from Northampton and studied her trade in the town.

Now the Oliver nominee has returned to her hometown to deliver two workshops to students from a performing school, which provides disabled adults a chance to experience theatre.

Last month, the school, called Born to Perform, launched a day programme at The Deco theatre, which is where Jarneia will visit.

Kim Carey, one of the founders of the school, said: “We are so thrilled for Jarneia to be joining us to teach our wonderful Born to Perform students at The Deco Theatre.

“Jarneia, now living in London, is originally from Northampton and studied performing arts at Northampton College and she will be delivering a Six The Musical workshop for our students.

“Six The Musical is the most uplifting piece of new British Musical Theatre I have ever had the privilege to watch.”

The West End star will be providing musical theatre workshops to the students today (October 26) and Thursday (October 29).
