A Northampton theatre has implemented a number of Covid-safe measures so that it can bring live shows back to the town.

The Deco, in Abington Square, has been shut for five months during the pandemic and had to cancel a huge amount of shows.

Now the theatre has announced a string of tributes kicking off with Tina Turner on September 11.

The UB40 experience, which includes two of the original members, will then take to the stage on October 24, followed by the Sun Records Concert show on October 29.

Based at the re-branded Old Savoy, the theatre will then host a local World War Two play called The Every Brothers on November 8, before a Frankie Valli tribute on November 14.

A spokesman for the Deco said: “We’re moving cautiously out of lockdown.

“Following current guidelines, Deco staff are taking out the row of seats immediately in front of, and behind, the seats of any group, whatever the number.

“There’s also a gap between the seats on both sides of the group, to allow a two-metre social distance, but everyone has a great view of the stage.”
