A popular musical will be coming to a Northampton theatre later this year after the original tour was postponed in February 2021.

Andrew Lloyd Webber’s hit musical, School of Rock, will grace the stage at Royal & Derngate in November 2021.

The show is one of the first national tours to confirm a new date as the theatre is scheduled to reopen to audiences next Monday (May 17).

The Derngate is part of a huge UK and Ireland 2021 and 2022 tour for the show, which is yet to announce its cast.

Based on the film, the musical follows Dewey Finn, a failed, wannabe rock star who decides to earn a few extra bucks by posing as a substitute teacher at a prestigious prep school.

Featuring 14 new songs from Andrew Lloyd Webber and all the original songs from the film, the production opened on Broadway in December 2015 before transferring to the West End in November 2016.

The show will visit Northampton from November 1 to November 6 for a total of eight performances.

Tickets are on sale now and can be found on the Derngate website.
