For any youngster growing up with the Cbeebies channel over the previous decade, Sid Sloane will be one of the most recogniseable faces in the pantomime.

The star is portraying the role of Dandini in Cinderella coming to the Royal and Derngate in Northampton this year.

Sid said: “Pantomime is such good fun to do, we did the Cbeebies pantomime as well so am very experienced doing it.

“My role is to keep Prince Charming happy and to attend to his every whim.

“But that doesn’t mean I can’t have some fun when Prince Charming is not around and I fully intend to have a good time.

“This version promises to be a fantastic show and great fun for everyone.

Having lit up television screens and children’s faces across the country for 11 years on CBeebies, he has subsequently toured the UK with his one-man production Sid’s Show where his biggest (yet smallest) fans had the opportunity to meet their favourite star.

Sid has also worked for the BBC on voice-overs and radio dramas and still regularly appears on CBeebies on the much-loved show Let’s Play.

But while he might have left the role of Cbeebies presenter, it’s an environment he can’t get away from.

Sid added: “I have found myself hosting Cbeebies which goes out in South Africa. I often end up sneaking in and recording it in the same studios after the current presenters have left.

“With that and Let’s Play, it’s like I have never left the same studio.

“But I really love entertaining children and engaging with their imagination.

“I think it is very important that we do provide good quality entertainment for children because it will inspire them.”

“It’s why I keep coming back to do pantomime because it is great for the children having seen me on the television and then to see me on the stage.”

Packed with all of the traditional Northampton pantomime ingredients audiences have come to expect,Cinderella features stunning scenery, plenty of boos and hisses, incredible music and dancing, plus Pegasus the amazing flying horse - all of which will ensure that audiences will have a ball!
