Northampton antiques collectors and jewellery afficionados will have the chance to discover the value of their precious items at a charity valuation day.

Click Antiques and Vintage, in Moore Street, Kingsley, Northampton will host the event in aid of Marie Curie on Tuesday, 28 May, between 11am and 4pm.

The Antiques Roadshow style event will allow people to explore the value of their precious items – whether curious about car boot finds, or looking for the idea of the story behind inherited collectables.

Nick Smith, co-owner of Click, will be joined by jewellery trader Mel Lee-Patrick, of LPJ, to examine small antiques, collectables, jewellery, silver and watches in exchange for a suggested donation of just £3 or more per item.

Gemmologist Mel, who also works as Head of Jewellery at Hanson Ross Auctioneers in Hertfordshire, will bring along gemstone and precious metal testing kit to allow supporters to understand exactly how precious their jewels might be.

Mel suggested the event in memory of her father-in-law Michael Patrick, who passed away earlier this year and Nick was keen to host and be a part of the event.

She said: “Marie Curie were able to support Michael in his wishes to remain in his home, surrounded by family in his final days, allowing him precious peace and time he might not have had in a hospital ward.

“In his younger days, together with his late wife Valerie, Michael traded in watches and jewellery himself at fairs so this feels like a fitting way to honour him by paying dues to Marie Curie through an activity which meant so much to him.”
