Lumina Arts Alliance opens community hub in Northampton with full-day event

Lumina Arts Alliance has developed the Lumina Community Hub to remove barriers to creative access and create inclusive opportunities for SEND individuals, young people, families and the wider community.
The hub opened Northampton town centre in a 350 year-old Grade II listed heritage building at the Northampton & County Club on Saturday March 28, opening event from 2pm to 10pm, including a mayoral ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Lumina will deliver workshops to develop skills, build confidence and support mental wellbeing, alongside a dedicated art gallery showcasing work from local artists.
The opening day brought the space to life with a full programme of activity designed to welcome the community and showcase what the hub will offer moving forward.

Live music and performances took place across a dedicated performance area, creating a vibrant and social atmosphere. Creative activity zones ran alongside this, as well as interactive engagement, giving an insight into the type of workshops that will be delivered through the hub.
The event also featured print sales from local and emerging artists, alongside a licensed bar and a range of refreshments including sweets, popcorn, cupcakes and a mini buffet available throughout the day. A community raffle, face painting and games will ran, offering opportunities to get involved and take part in the celebrations.
The gallery space was open during the launch, showcasing work from local and emerging artists and introducing the hub’s ongoing exhibition and print sales offering.
Lumina Arts Alliance has developed the hub in collaboration with a range of local partners, including SENDsational Families, SEND Mummas, SEND Hearts and Hampton Bridge School, supporting inclusive access for SEND individuals and families.
The organisation has also worked alongside The Lowdown, Shaw Trust, Northamptonshire Children’s Trust, Sport4Fitness CIC, Northampton Saints Foundation and The King’s Trust, building strong partnerships that support young people, families and community development across Northamptonshire.
Lumina Arts Alliance has secured funding and support from the UK Government, West Northamptonshire Council, Northampton Town Council, Northamptonshire Community Foundation and the Click Arts Foundation, reinforcing the hub’s role as part of a wider investment in accessible, community-led creative provision.
The event offers an opportunity for the community to explore the space, meet the team and gain an insight into what the Lumina Community Hub will bring to Northampton.
The Lumina Community Hub is led by Dylan Jake, Louise Troy and Jack Savage, who bring a combined range of experience across creative practice, education and community engagement. Together, they are driving the vision of the hub as an inclusive space designed to support creativity, personal development and opportunity for the local community.
