Filmhouse at Northampton theatre finally given green light to reopen after months

Northampton Filmhouse, part of Royal & Derngate, has announced a reopening date.

A independent cinema attached to a popular theatre is finally able to reopen.

The Filmhouse - part of Northampton Royal & Derngate - has been shut for seven months due to the pandemic.

Today (October 21), bosses have announced that the cinema can now reopen from next month.

A statement on the Filmhouse social media said: "We've got news. After seven long months we are overjoyed to be announcing that we will reopen on Friday November 13.

"Thank you for all your support and well wishes since our closure in March.

"More details will follow next week on our reopening season, and all the things we’ll be doing to keep you safe when you attend.

"We can’t wait to welcome you all back."

CEO, Jo Gordon, tweeted about the news and said: "I can’t tell you how hard the team are working and it’s great to be focusing on something so positive in the weeks ahead. We need it!"

Tickets will go on sale for the reopening season on October 30.
