As a single parent managing two businesses that assist young people with special educational needs, the world of self help and development is nothing new to her.
She says, “I wrote the book to help people understand how much control they have over their health, wellbeing and happiness. By the end of the book, I would like the reader to be able to identify ways to improve the balance in their own lives and to feel empowered to implement those changes with confidence.”
The idea came around following the news of her mother being diagnosed with a terminal illness and a six-month life expectancy. Purely as a result of focused change to her diet and lifestyle, her mother ended up living well and in contentment for many years after this diagnosis.

“This made her wonder, what if we applied this kind of focus to our wellbeing before we became sick? What if wellness and contentment were the goals rather than chasing success and achievement? What if we started living in happiness right now rather than making it conditional upon some other life event?”
After many years of deep exploration and study, Balance was born, along with a new lease of life for Lianne. She says, “I have made it through my crazy busy life for 50 years and emerged relatively unscathed with a renewed sense of enthusiasm and purpose, ready for the next 50!”
Balance will be available from the 21st June 2024, pre-orders are available on Austin Macauley website and Amazon.
