Moulton Literary Festival has been postponed until next year as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

The annual day of activities to celebrate books at Moulton Community Centre was organised for November 21.

But the organisers have decided the event would not be possible in its current format so it has been rescheduled fo November 20, 2021.

Rachel Campling, from the organising committee, said: "We thought long and hard about it and we held off the decision as long as we could.

"But there's much uncertainty about when things are going to be open like the community centre and we don't know when we can have the number of people there we would need to make it financially viable.

"Plus the public may not be confident to go to events with large numbers of people so we made the decision."

The literary festival started in 2018 after an event to showcase Moulton Library, which was under threat of closure, was so successful they decided to do make it an annual occasion.

Last year authors signed books and held workshops, while there was also stalls, a craft fair and events specifically for children.

Rachel said many of the authors due to attend this year's festival have committed to coming to the next one and they hope people will continue to support them.
