Northamptonshire's top cop is offering one lucky winner the chance to get behind the wheel of one of his eight brand new £38,000 Interceptors car, chasing a bad guy.

Chief Constable Nick Adderley hatched plans for the competition in conjunction with Police Chase UK to raise money for Force's mental health charity Thin Blue Line.

Mr Adderley said: "This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to experience what it is really like to be a police pursuit driver.

"You can get an insight into the challenges and split-second decisions a pursuit driver has to make.

"You will drive this actual car and will receive expert tuition before being thrown into a pursuit situation — on private land — all in support of our nominated charity."

Entry is a minium £5 donation with one lucky winner getting the chance to spend some time in one of the new 140mph Skoda Octavia VRS Estate TDi cars with a highly-trained officers, who will demonstrate all the in-car technology.

■ PLUS a chance to ride shotgun as the officer takes the 140mph vehicle out on track at Stafford Driving Centre, for four laps of the one-mile course, which includes two main hairpins and chicanes.

■ PLUS a stint driving a police Volvo C30 with an experienced instructor by their side, in an attempt to outrun the Police Interceptor!

■ PLUS a ride in the passenger seat during a mock police pursuit with full radio comms ending with a a TPAC three-car box maneouvre.

Entrants must be over 25, hold a full UK driving licence and be available to travel to Stafford on Sunday, October 4.

The competition is free to enter although the Force is asking for a minimum £5 donation to the Thin Blue Line UK charity, which supports mental health services and raises awareness around mental health and well-being for serving police officers. Donations can be made via the dedicated Just Giving page.

All you need do to enter is answer a simple question: How many new police interceptor vehicles has the Force launched?

Email your answer to [email protected], with your name and contact details. But be quick, closing date is Friday, September 25. The winner will be announced on Monday, September 28.
