Cabinet member for community safety, Councillor Mike Hallam, said: “Our new campaign focusses on creating a safe and sociable town centre.

"In partnership with Northamptonshire Police and the Northampton Town Centre BID, we are working with local businesses to promote our messages to the public to ensure the safety of people visiting Northampton town centre.

“Halloween has become one of the most popular and busiest nights of the year so we’re expecting to see a lot of people heading out for the evening. Closing Bridge Street on this particularly busy night helps to reduce the risk of accident, and is one of the measures that we adopt on key dates throughout the year.”

Barriers will be placed across the top and bottom of the street along with clear diversion signs to direct traffic.
