Irish culture and history are brought to life in a show called Essence of Ireland which comes to Royal & Derngate in Northampton.
Through dance and music it tells a story of love, happiness and heartache as a couple, Coro McGowen and Sean Dempsey, are separated by emigration from each other and from their country.
The story is brought to life through music and dance not just from Ireland but from the USA and Spain.
It is set in Ireland, England and America in the 19th century. The story is based on true events
The show includes classic Irish songs including Galway Girl, Emigrant Eyes, Tell Me Ma and Irish Rover,
And the cast are a world class and multi-national ensemble.
For this show in Northampton, pupils from the local Clifford Lightley Academy of Irish Dance will be performing with the cast.
Essence Of Ireland comes to Derngate on Sunday, March 29 at 7.30pm.
