Comedian Ruby Wax will be teaching an audience how to overcome stress with a show coming to The Lighthouse Theatre in Kettering.
The new show, entitled Frazzled, is a forum for discussion and is on tomorrow (Friday) at 7.30pm.
Frazzled will teach audiences how to combat the modern problem of stress using a scientific solution: mindfulness.
There will also be a guest presenter and input from the audience.
Ruby said: “The first thing to say is that it is a comedy show. But mindfulness is to help us deal with things that can cause issues.
“It’s like if you have a big exam or you’re about to go into a meeting and your boss is going to kick your head in. It can help people in those positions.
“But it is not useful for everyone.”
It might not help everyone, but has Ruby benefitted from it? She said: “I have found it very useful in my own life.
“There are moments when I can get angry and can use the techniques to calm down. And I can get to a calmer state much more quickly whereas previously I would be brewing over something.
“It is also something you need to practice. We weren’t born with the ability to write or be potty trained but you can practice it while you are on the bus or out for a walk.”
Ruby has also worked on the new Absolutely Fabulous movie, a show she is proud of.
“I have written some of the lines for the Absolutely Fabulous movie that’s coming up. I think that and the interview shows that I have done are the proudest points of my career,” she said.
“I like doing the live shows now, though, because I can see people’s faces and their reactions straight away.”
Tickets cost £18. They can be booked by calling the box office on 01536 414141 or visit www.lighthousetheatre.co.uk.
