Multi-million album-selling singer and TV star Tom Jones is coming to Northampton at the height of summer for a live show at the County Ground.

The 73-year-old Welshman, best known for hits including Delilah, Kiss and Sex Bomb, will perform at Northamptonshire County Cricket Club’s Wantage Road ground on Wednesday, July 9.

Sir Tom, who is currently a coach on the hit BBC television talent show, The Voice, is the third artist to perform at the ground, after Elton John in 2011 and Madness last year.

His 40-year career has had highlights including receiving a BRIT Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music, a Silver Clef Award for Lifetime Achievement and a Knighthood in 2006 for services to music.

Cricket club chief executive, David Smith, said: “We are obviously delighted to have Tom Jones playing at the County Ground.

“We have been trying to develop the ground as a concert venue, which we believe we have done quite well over the last two years.

“We are very much looking forward to welcoming him and we are anticipating a very busy night.

“It is at the height of summer and we hope people from Northampton will come out and support it. It is part of our strategy to develop the club with a more rounded business model, not reliant on cricket alone.”

Producer Liz Hobbs said: “Northants Cricket have been so keen to have Tom perform at the stadium. I cannot tell you how delighted I am to have helped realise this dream for the club.”

Tickets start at £35 and go on sale from 9am tomorrow. They are available from or by calling 0844 844 8444.
