Aled Jones brings his show Songs of Hope and Inspiration to Northampton’s Royal & Derngate next week.

The singer, actor, author, broadcaster, TV presenter, musical theatre performer and part-time dancer, will be accompanied by world-class musicians in an evening that will feature an eclectic mix of songs and stories from his time in the public eye.

Loved by the nation originally for his pure treble voice, Jones has recently celebrated over 27 years as a household name.

He had been a regular on the BBC’s Songs of Praise for more than 10 years and was also a presenter on Escape to the Country and Cash in the Attic for the broadcaster.

He currently presents Classic FM’s Sunday morning radio show and for several years woke up the nation every weekday morning with Lorraine Kelly on Daybreak on ITV1, before moving to their new Weekend programme.

Starting his singing career as a choir boy at Bangor Cathedral in Wales, Jones first rose to fame with his cover version of Walking in the Air, the song from the animated film The Snowman.

He now has 29 albums to his name and has sold more than 6.5 million records to date.

Aled Jones headlines the Derngate stage on Wednesday, April 1 at 7.30pm.

Tickets cost from £26 before fees.

Following its West End success at the Leicester Square Theatre in February, The Simon and Garfunkel Story heads to the theatre’s stage next month.

Led by Dean Elliott, it tells the story of Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel from their humble beginnings as rock and roll duo, through their success, dramatic break-up and finishes with a recreation of the 1981 Central Park reformation concert.

The show is on Thursday, April 9.

Doors open at 7.30pm, ticket cost from 19.50 before fees.
