Eighties’ music icons Bananarama, Rick Astley, Paul Young, Boney M, T’Pau and The Real Thing will all take to the stage at Alive at Delapre in Northampton in July.

The bands will play under the banner of ‘Here and Now, The Very Best of The 80s’ and will perform on the Saturday night of the festival.

Bananarama had a string of hits, including Cruel Summer, I Heard a Rumour and Venus, while Rick Astley will forever be known for his 1987 smash, Never Gonna Give You Up, which was a number one in 25 countries.

1980s’ idol Paul Young is famous for such hit singles as Love of the Common People, Come Back and Stay, and Everytime You Go Away, while T’Pau will be playing their classic hits, China in Your Hand and Heart and Soul.

Rounding off the night will be hitmakers from the disco era, Boney M, remembered for Rivers of Babylon, Rasputin and Daddy Cool, and The Real Thing, who charted internationally with their song You To Me Are Everything that reached number one on the UK Singles Chart.

Councillor David Mackintosh, leader of Northampton Borough Council, said: “Here And Now promises to be an amazing Saturday night out, with hit after hit that will bring back some great memories.

“I know it will be a great pop party for a summer’s evening at a beautiful parkland venue and complements the rest of our Alive at Delapre line-up.”

Tickets for Here and Now, who play on Saturday July 19, cost £39.25 (including booking fee) and go on this Friday, March 7, at 9am from Royal & Derngate box office, online at www.royalandderngate.co.uk or via Ticket Master and See Tickets.
