TV’s first lady of antiques, Kate Bliss, will be attending Hansons Auctioneers valuation day at Cold Higham on Wednesday March 11 from 12 to 4pm.
Kate is an appointed Fellow of the Gemmological Association of Great Britain, and regularly appears as an antiques expert on the BBC’s Flog It! and of course on Bargain Hunt, where she has worked with Charles Hanson for over eight years.
“With such qualifications’, commented Mr Hanson, “we are pleased that Kate is available to advise our clients on all aspects on the valuation and sale of gold and precious gemstones and jewellery. Kate’s passion and expertise for her specialist area alongside an enthusiasm in meeting the public serves Hansons clients delightfully well.”
Kate will be available to offer free valuations on silver and jewellery items.
Hansons also has a jewellery auction on Thursday March 26 from 6pm at Etwall.
A spokeswoman said; “We will be offering for sale a wide variety of antique and modern jewellery to suit all budgets.”
Having worked in an auction house for many years, Kate says she is passionate to promote antique jewellery as a more affordable alternative to the high-street jewellers.
“I’m keen for the public to see just what is on offer at auctions for a fraction of the retailer’s price. The variety and history of the pieces we sell add an extra dimension when purchasing jewellery as well as the reasonable prices,” she said.
The spokeswoman added: “We will be holding quarterly jewellery auctions, alongside our monthly Antique and Collectors sales which has a strong jewellery section.
“If you have any pieces you think you’d like to sell, why not come down and visit Kate for her advice and valuations, you never know what treasures you may hold!
“At a recent valuation day we unearthered a rare and collectable 18th century mourning ring, dated 1733 and in good condition we expect it to sell for around £800-1200,” the spokeswoman added.
