The 25-year-old music star releases his second album in June. Wrong Crowd will be the follow up to his debut LP Long Way Down, which soared to number one in the UK Official Chart in 2013.

During his busy promotional schedule for his new album and latest single, called Magnetise, Tom revealed he already has one eye on his performance at The Ricoh Arena on May 27.

“This is the first big show of the summer and the line-up is looking great.

“It’s also the first opportunity I’ll have to play my new material to a really big audience so I’m really excited to make some noise in Coventry,” he said.

“I haven’t played in many arenas before and it’s been a while since I’ve done it.

“There’s something so inclusive about playing big venues because there are so many people that are there to have a good time and share a common love for music. It’ll be really interesting to hear how my new songs sound in front of thousands of people.”

The two-day concert will see the Another Love star entertaining the crowd alongside a string of household names such as the Kaiser Chiefs, Sigala, Chase & Status and Fleur East on day one.

“One of the great things about this job is you get to go and see other acts whilst you’re there, and I’m really looking forward to seeing the Kaiser Chiefs which should be fun.

“One of the other reasons I wanted to do MTV Crashes is because the ticket price is really affordable. “I’m always sceptical when bands start charging a fortune for tickets because live music should be accessible for everyone, especially in the expensive world we now live in.”

In the weeks leading up to MTV Crashes Coventry, Tom is playing a series of intimate gigs as he gets to grips with performing his new material in front of live audiences.

The 2013 Brits Critics’ Choice winner added: “We’re about to do a show down in London before doing a few dates around Europe and over in America, so by the time we get to Coventry we should be well rehearsed.”

As for visiting Coventry, it’s been a long time coming for Tom.

He continued: “When I was first started out playing in a band in Brighton one of my dear friends was from Coventry. He always invited me up but I never managed to go, so I’m looking forward to finally paying a visit.”

MTV Crashes Coventry is on May 27 and May 28.
