"We haven't played Northampton and we are looking forward to it a lot," said the front man. "The guys who are putting the gig on, Meds, Claude and Steve, have been coming to watch us for years, so it is nice to do something with them.

"We know there are going to be a lot of people that know us and there should be a good atmosphere."

The band have been in existence since 2007, but there have been numerous personnel changes over the years, with frontman and songwriter Corbin the ever-present throughout, and he feels the current line-up is the best yet.

"This line up has been together just under a year, and we seem fairly settled now," said Corbin. "Our drummer is really solid for the rhythm section which is the best it's ever been, and we are a lot tighter unit now.

"Playing live is really important to us and this year we have made more of an effort to get out a lot more, and we have been busy.

"In the past we've not gigged as much as I or anybody would have liked, but we have gone for it a bit more and are enjoying it, and we are looking forward to Saturday.

"We play for an hour and quarter usually, and we have been playing mostly stuff from the new album, with six or seven songs from the old album, and the rest from the new one."

The promoters of the gig said of Saturday's show: "If you like music from the soul , lyrics with a social conscience and love songs that sum up how you feel, then this is the band for you. These guys will make your feet, and indeed your heart, dance to their respective beat."

So, how does Corbin describe his band's sound?

"I have always described us as a sould band essentially, but it's soulful indie I guess," he said.

"When you tell somebody you are in a soul band, people think of The Commitments or something like that.

"A lot of soul music has already been done, and because I am not a conventional soul singer by any means, you have to do something different to stand out a bit."

The band were signed to the Acid Jazz record label in 2013, and released their first album No Hard Feelings.

A second LP is already recorded and ready to go, with a release date set for early next year, but it is as yet unnamed as Corbin and the label have yet to settle on the tracklist.

Corbin is very proud of all the songs the band have put together for the album, and says the band's sound has progressed since their debut.

"The first album had songs on it that I had written years previously, but I have written most of the songs for the new album in the past 12 months or so," he said.

"It will feel like an achievement when it comes out, and if you ask any band they always think their second album is going to be better than the first when it comes out.

"I think it is definitely more refined, and there are a greater number of influences coming in, and style shifts in the soul spectrum as well."
