First acts announced for Northampton Music Festival

Charlotte Carpenter, Jono and the Uke Dealers and Velvet Engine are among the first acts organisers of this year's Northampton Music Festival have revealed will play the event when it returns next month.

Now entering its ninth year, the festival takes place from Friday, June 17 to Sunday, June 19, and will feature performances on stages and at venues across the town, with the main festival on the last day.

Joining Carpenter on the main stage will be Jamie Benkert and Mystic Crew.

The Dan Wyllie Quartet, Lost latinos and Jazz Colossus will play on the jazz stage with the Royal & Derngate Community Choir, the Northampton Gilbert and Sullivan Group and the Northampton Concert Orchestra playing on the classical stage.

Joining Jono on the All Saints stage will be Stevie Jones and The Wildfires and Tom Rose and the Heathen Orchestra while Velvet Engine will be joined on the Abington Street stage by Jordan Mackampa and Amii Dawes Music

Organisers will be announcing more acts in the coming weeks.

There will be six outdoor stages and more than 12 venues taking part in the festival and this year as well as a variety of pop-up kitchens, featuring taster menus provided by local restaurants and cafes, as well as an extensive arts market.

The Northampton Music Festival is run by Northampton Music 365, a not for profit community interest group, in partnership with the Northampton Town Centre BID and Northampton Borough Council.
