Duo from cult heroes CUD play Northampton date

CUD duo Carl Puttnam and Mike Dunphy will be playing an acoustic set at the Phipps Albion Brewery Bar on Friday.

The band, formed in Leeds in the late 1980,s attracted a cult following in the North of England and were favourites of the legendary John Peel.

Their debut single Mind The Gap was released on Reception Records, the label owned and run by David Gedge.

CUD went onto achieve top 30 hits with songs including Rich & Strange, Purple Love Balloon and Neurotica and released five studio albums.

Despite disbanding in the mid 1990s, the band has since reformed with Puttnam and Dunphy also touring as a duo.

CUD play the Phipps Albion Brewery Bar on Friday, September 30.

They will be joined at the Kingswell Street venue by Revolver DJs featuring Spiral Archive’s Alex Novak who will be playing alternative songs from the 80s and 90s.
