Barb Jungr brings her acclaimed take on Bob Dylan's songs to Northampton

The internationally acclaimed singer Barb Jungr is returning to Royal & Derngate in Northampton on Saturday with her live show Every Grain of Sand which explores the songs of Bob Dylan.

Jungr has wowed audiences and critics worldwide with her powerful reinterpretations of Dylan’s work.

Known for her passionate singing, minimal and subtle arrangements, and great humour, Jungr is regarded as one of the definitive performers of the songs one of the great musical icons of the 20th century.

Variously described by critics as magnificent, mesmerising and magical, Jungr has built a formidable reputation as an international live performer and recording artiste.

Jungr’s repertoire includes songs by Jacques Brel, Nina Simone, Jimmy Webb, Leonard Cohen and Bruce Springsteen.

However, she has attracted particular acclaim for her work on the songs of Dylan which produced two critically-acclaimed albums and a series of sell-out, award-winning transatlantic shows.

Her first album of Dylan songs, Every Grain of Sand, was originally released in 2002.

It became a cult classic and won her a dedicated fan base from around the world.

The album even boasts celebrity fans, with Jeremy Irons naming it as one of the must-have albums on BBC Radio 4’s Desert Island Discs.

This month Linn Records is releasing an special 15th anniversary CD and limited edition LP of the record.

Jungr said: “Since recording Every Grain Of Sand for Linn in 2002, if anything, my love for the work of Bob Dylan has simply magnified exponentially.

Barb Jungr will be playing the venue’s intimate Royal auditorium on Saturday, March 4. Doors open at 7.45pm and tickets cost £19 before fees.

Singer songwriter Paul Carrack returns to Northampton next week to headline the venue’s main stage.

With an impressive 18 solo albums to his name, his latest Soul Shadows, was released in 2016 and was his highest chart entry to date.

He plays on Friday, March 10. Doors 7.30pm, tickets £31 before fees.
