Bands unite for Northampton gig to fight homelessness

The first of two gigs helping to raise money for homelessness charity Crisis takes place this weekend.

Longy, Andy Bennett (ex Ocean Colour Scene), Harry Pane , Dublin based Penrose, The Assist, Old School, Amy Claire and Light After Midnight Band will all play Barratts in Northampton on Saturday, September 24.Music is from 4pm, admission is free. Visit www.barrattsclub.co.uk.The second gig is on Thursday, October 20, at the Roadmender and will feature sets by The Barratts, Samuel Rogers, Kav Blaggers, Repeat Offenders, Nick Aslam, Same Streets, and Penny Mob. Tickets cost £6 in advance from www.theroadmender.com Both are part of a national campaign launched by Alan McGee earlier this year.McGee said: “Although our primary concern is to combat the scourge of homelessness it is vital that the gigs also give up-and-coming combos a chance to play to larger audiences.”Hundreds of bands will be playing across the country as part of the campaign.All the proceeds from both shows will go directly to the charity.
