TRAMPOLINING: NTGA's Cole-Dyer delivers as he becomes world champion

Tyler Cole-Dyer became World Synchronised Trampoline champion thanks to a stunning performance in Bulgaria that saw him fly home with a silver medal in the individual competition to add to his synchronised gold.

Northants Trampoline Gymastics Academy team-mate Andrew Stamp won a second successive World Championship silver medal in a tightly-fought contest as the county club shone on the world stage, with fellow club members Abbie Brown, Brodie Hove-Coleman and Lois Moseley all finishing in the top 15 in their age groups.

Cole-Dyer and fellow countryman Ryan Brown led from start to finish in the 11-12 mens synchronised event, posting 47.7 in qualification to lead their Russian rivals by two marks going into the final.

A final round total of 45.9 secured the pair World Championship gold and a place in history.

Earlier, Cole-Dyer and Brown had also proved superior in the individual event, as they fought each other for individual honours. A score of 95.885 saw the NTGA gymnast take the lead in the preliminary rounds. A total of 52.680 was bettered only by Brown in the final, earning Cole-Dyer individual silver and a Great Britain one-two.

Competing in his fourth World Championships, 15-year-old Stamp showed his experience as he put a difficult British Championships behind him to end the preliminary rounds in silver-medal position thanks to a total of 103.820.

The Market Harborough gymnast produced an awesome final round to push Canadian Jeremy Chartier all the way, ending just 0.5 behind his rival in second in what was a repeat of the 2015 result.

Making her debut on the world stage, Lois Moseley, scored 90.810 in the 11-12 female competition to finish 12th in a strong field of 60 gymnasts. Also representing Great Britain for the first time at a World Age event, Abigail Brown scored 92.980 to finish 13th in the 15-16 female category.

Brodie Hove-Coleman also finished 13th out of a tough field of 80 in the 13-14 competition as she scored 93.910.

Hove-Coleman, competing in her third World Age Group Competition, was the highest placed British gymnast in a field dominated by Russian and Belarussian gymnasts. An unfortunate second round error from Evie Joseph left her in 70th place.

The pair then teamed up for the synchronised event to finish 10th with 43.400.

Head coach of the Academy and the Great Britain junior team, Harvey Smith, said: “I’m very proud of the gymnasts and delighted for Tyler, winning two world medals at his first event, and also for Andrew, picking up his third world medal overall.

“They are amazing achievements and very well deserved after the hard work and dedication they have shown.

“It’s also a proud time for their families who provide fantastic support and commitment.

“Overall, the world standards have increased again this year and a lot can change in the age groups, particularly with no competition last year due to the Olympics.
