TRAMPOLINING: Cole-Dyer and Vassell are the best of British

The duo stole the show at the Echo Arena by winning the 11-12 boys and 9-10 girls respectively at the end of season showpiece.

It was a triple celebration for Cole-Dyer as the 11-year-old stormed to the individual and synchronised titles at the same time as earning the much-coveted Paul Luxon Award - awarded to the junior and senior gymnast with the best preliminary round execution score, in honour of former World Champion Paul Luxon.

Cole-Dyer took a five-point lead into the individual final after scoring 90.965 in qualification and he held his nerve to be crowned British Champion with a three-round total of 138.37. The NTGA prodigy also teamed-up with OLGA Poole’s Cameron Bennett to win the 11-12 synchronised competition.

Competing in the youngest category, Vassell took top-spot at her first-ever British Championships thanks to a total of 128.345.

The youngster’s preliminary score of 83.695 put her in the lead overnight, while she confirmed her class with a score of 44.650 to take gold in the final.

Team-mate Emily Chapman narrowly missed out on a top-eight place after scoring 74.535, which saw her finish ninth. The pair then teamed-up to take third place in the synchronised contest thanks to a total of 103.000.

Fresh from victory at the Nissen Cup in Arosa, Switzerland, 14-year-old Andrew Stamp scooped the senior Paul Luxon Award with a two-round total of 100.735 on what was a proud day for the Academy.

Despite leading the 15-16 boys by a massive six marks, a final-round error by Stamp meant he had to settle for sixth.

Club-mate Josh Jones had a weekend to remember, however, as he picked up a bronze medal thanks to a three-round total of 140.300.

Brodie Hove-Coleman continued her good run of form at British Championships by scoring 137.170 to take home a silver medal in her first year competing in the 13-14 girls.

Abigail Brown replicated her 2015 performance with a third place finish in the same category after recording the highest final round score of 48.065 and a three-round total of 136.745. Ciara McGrath (131.440) finished seventh ahead of Charlotte Price (59.100), whose second round error placed her 13th.

Hove-Coleman and McGrath teamed up to secure a bronze medal in the 13-14 girls synchronised event, scoring 112.10.

The 2015 British Champion Tahlia Feasey stepped up an age group to the 15-16 category and narrowly missed out on another podium finish, scoring 126.670 to gain a credible fourth place. In her maiden appearance at the British Championships, Ocean Haynes scored 83.250 to reach the final of the 11-12 girls, however an error in the final round saw her finish eighth.
