Myler: Derby day will have added meaning for Saints

Saints will go into the March 25 meeting at Franklin's Gardens just three points behind their fifth-placed rivals.

Bath, who are fourth, are now just four points above Jim Mallinder's men, meaning making the play-offs remains a distinct possibility for Saints.

And Myler knows just how vital the game against Leicester will be for both sides.

"It goes without saying (how big the game is)," the Saints fly-half said.

"I've been involved in enough of them to know what it means to both clubs, particularly ours.

"With the league situation as it is, it gives even more meaning to it with the points differential, and it's pretty close.

"We need to keep winning to keep pushing up that league table."

Saints secured a superb 32-12 victory at Sale Sharks last Friday night.

But they now have two weekends off as they did not make it to the latter stages of the Anglo-Welsh Cup.

And Myler said: "It's always nice to keep that momentum going after a win, but we knew the situation before last Friday.

"It was a case of ripping in, putting everything on the line and we knew it was a difficult place to go against a tough team.

"It's a big win for us and we've got some momentum we can build on and take into the Leicester game."
