Excited Curle '˜can't wait' to feel that home buzz again

Keith Curle has already developed a positive connection with his home fans

Northampton have turned a corner in front of their own supporters of late, winning four on the bounce and unbeaten in six across all competitions, but that has been placed on the back burner for successive away games at Lincoln and Exeter over the past two Saturdays.

Town are back at home this weekend though, entertaining Grimsby Town in Sky Bet League Two, and Curle’s excited to hopefully put on another show for their supporters following consecutive wins over Forest Green Rovers, Oldham Athletic, Crewe Alexandra and Fulham U21s.

“I’m looking forward to it,” he said this week. “I put out a tweet after the Exeter game to say I can’t wait to go back and savour that atmosphere after 94, 95 minutes and experience that unity that’s been created between the players, the staff at the club and our supporters.

“I think it’s vitally important with the recent results we’ve had that it’s good to get people off their seats and applauding a good performance.

“It doesn’t matter if we’re playing top of the league or bottom of the league, our attention to detail, our preparation and the information we give the players is delivered in the same manner.”

Grimsby’s up-and-down campaign has them currently sitting 20th in the table, four points below the Cobblers and four points above the relegation zone.

Curle’s main focus is on his own side though, adding: “A lot of the work and a lot of the focus is on ourselves because we’re still finding out about individuals and we’re still a work in progress.

“We want to get people with the ball in the right areas and we want to be competitive all over the pitch.”
