The 22-year-old shot-stopper was signed by former manager Justin Edinburgh last summer, but has yet to feature for the first team under Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.

Coddington has made two Cobblers appearances, in the 4-1 Sky Bet League One defeat to Peterborough United and the 1-1 Checkatrade Trophy draw with Cambridge United, both in the final week of August.

He becomes the sixth player to depart Sixfields in the January transfer window, and this will be his second stint out on loan this season.

Coddington also played for National League side Wrexham in September and October, making five starts - one of them against Guisely.

“This is a good move for Luke to go and play first team football,” said Hasselbaink.

“He will have the opportunity play regularly and that will benefit Luke and his development.

“We wish him well and hope he can help Guiseley in his time there.”

Guiseley are struggling in the National League, and are currently second bottom and nine points from safety, although they do have a couple of games in hand.

The Lions, who are managed by former Mansfield Town boss Paul Cox, have been looking for a new goalkeeper since number one Jonny Maxted left the club to sign for Accrington Stanley last week.

Coddington is set to make his debut on Saturday when they travel to promotion-chasing Dover Athletic.

The Cobblers also have a recall option on Coddington should injuries hit Richard O’Donnell and David Cornell at the same time, although any recall would be subject to EFL approval.
